History

The Sun of Knowledge Order was instituted prior to 1938. The Order is conferred in a Knowledge and an Arts Division. The Order was made obsolete in 1956.

The Knowledge Division is presented in three classes to recognize scholarship, poetry, and literary endeavour. The Dnyan Jyoti (Flame of Knowledge) is awarded as the II Class.

The Dnyan Jyoti (Flame of Knowledge) is composed of silver.

The suspension features the Sanskrit inscription "SATYAMEVA JAYATE" which translates to "Truth Shall Triumph."
