History

The Gwalior Medal was established by Maharaja Rao Scindia on November 14, 1912. The Medal was presented in 3 Classes and was believed to have been awarded in recognition of war service during the First and Second World Wars. Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers, and other military personnel were eligible for the award. British foreigners may also have been eligible.

The Gwalior Silver Medal was awarded as the II Class.

The Medal features the inscription in English "FOR GOD AND GWALIOR" on the obverse suspension.

The Medal may have been issued named or made available for private engraving.

There may be additional versions of the II Class Silver Medal which vary by design or composition.

Additional research is necessary.
