History

This Order was established by Maharaja Sir Jagatjit Singh in 1898 as an order of merit, which was organized into 3 classes and awarded to State Officials and members of the Kapurthala Royal Family.

In 1914, the Order was reorganized into a single class, with the 2nd and 3rd class being replaced by the Order of Pride (see IND246). As a single class, this Order was conferred in recognition of outstanding service. It was only awarded to members of the Kapurthala Family or other Princes.

This Order was discontinued in 1950.

The obverse inscription translates to "For King and Country".
