Sources state that it is possible that this medal was conferred in commemoration of Chhaptrapati Shahji II's accession to the Gadi.

The obverse Devanagari inscription translates to "King Shahji II" and "The King of Hindus". The reverse Devanagari inscription translates to "Kingdom of Karvir", "Victory of Bhawani", and "Jyestha Shukla 13 Raja Saka 274 [1948 A.D.]".
