Instituted to commemorate Sultan Salah ud-din 'Abdu'l Aziz Shah's coronation as sultan.

It is a round silver medal with a ring suspension. The obverse bears a bust of the Sultan, left facing, and the reverse bears the Royal Crest of Selangor with the English inscription "Selangor" at the top.
