Instituted in 1861. Fourth Period (1941- on). In silver gilt and enamels, only slight enamel contact, very fine overall.
The Order was created by King Mongkut, and may be conferred upon national and foreign citizens for extraordinary civil and military service to the Kingdom of Thailand. The Orders may be awarded to both men (Knight) and women (Dame).
There is a discrepancy in size between the Order grades awarded to men versus those awarded to women.
