Physical Description and Item Details


Five-pointed gilt-edged red enamel star with ball-tipped finials, a circular infill with central point between the arms, on fleur de lys loop and ring suspension; the face plain; the reverse plain gilt inscribed with QUOC GIA VIETNAM / CHIEN THUONG BOI-TINH ; on a yellow, red, green and white striped ribbon.

History


This medal was conferred upon military personnel who were killed or wounded in combat. It was often awarded to members of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam during the Vietnam War. It was only awarded to foreign military personnel if the individual was under the command of a Vietnamese unit. It is no longer awarded.

This medal was locally manufactured.
