This medal was conferred upon Bulgarians and foreigners in recognition of service with the Ministry of Internal Affairs against foreign enemies and citizens disturbing the peace.
The medal has two main versions.
The medals issued first feature the enamelled symbol of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the obverse with the inscription on the symbol’s banner reading “МВР.”
The medals issued second feature the painted symbol of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the obverse with the inscription on the symbol’s banner reading “МВР 10 IX 1944.”
It was designed by Raycho Peev, and discontinued in 1991.
