History


Medal of Life Saving and Humanity Deeds was established in Portugal in 1852 by Queen Maria II. It was founded to commemorate those who has displayed philanthropic and generous acts for the benefit of Portugal.

The Medal was awarded with two grades based on the meritorious services displayed by the recipient; Gold Medal and Silver Medal.

There are two models that differ mainly in the inscription.
