Physical Description and Item Details


A rectangular bar constructed of bronze gilt, on a green ribbon bar with yellow stripes. The bar features a central Roman numeral "XXI" within the inscription "ALEX CARL". Weighing 7.4 grams.

History


The Long Service Bar was established in March 24, 1847 by Duke Alexander Carl. The bar was awarded to Non-Commissioned Officers, military surgeons, members of the police force, and Enlisted Men. The I Class Bar was awarded to those who who rendered 21 years of military service. The awarding of the Long Service Bar ended on May 8, 1864.

A total of 54 I Class Bars were awarded.
