Physical Description and Item Details


A circular medal constructed of silvered argentine. The obverse bears a cross with a shield with Bavarian lozenges, encompassed by a wreath of oak. The cross is encompassed by the inscription "TREUE DIENSTE REVERVE LANDWEHR". The reverse bears a shield with the inscription "IX" (9) encompassed by a wreath. It is surrounded by the inscription "LANDWEHR DIENST II. KLASSE". On a light blue and white striped ribbon.

History


The Reserve Infantry Long Service Decorations were instituted on January 21, 1876 by King Ludwig II and it was awarded to soldiers who satisfactorily fulfilled their compulsory service in the reserve army or individuals called up from the reserves who participated in a campaign of at least three months in duration.
