History

The Order is a Romanic Catholic dynastic order of knighthood, which was founded by Gerhard VII, Duke of Jülich-Berg in 1444 or 1445. The Order was founded to commemorate the Duke’s victory over the House of Egmond at the battle of Linnich, on November 3rd, Saint Hubert’s feast day.

Throughout the Order's long history its purpose underwent many changes as it fell out of use and was reinstated in 1708, and again in 1808.

There may be versions of the Officials Cross in gilded metal.
