History

The Long Service Cross for Officers, Type II was established by Duke Wilhelm of Brunswick on April 1, 1833. The cross was conferred upon Officers who had rendered military service for 25 years or longer. The cross was awarded until 1866, when Brunswick joined the Prussian-led North German Confederation and the award was replaced by the Prussian service award cross. The Long Service Cross for Officers had to be returned to the War College or Ducal Order Chancellery.
