The Service Cross for Military Personnel was established by Grand Ducal Decree on February 22, 1850. It is awarded to military personnel for long and meritorious service.
There are two versions of the I Class Cross (for Officers, for 25 Years) which vary slightly in design. The second version has larger swords and oak leaves. A rosette was added to the ribbon of this grade in 1967.
