Luxembourg, Grand Duchy. A Long Service Cross, II Class for Officers, Fifteen Years' Service, c.1900
(Croix de service pour les membres de l'Armée, de la Gendarmerie et de la Police). Instituted in 1850. In silver with green enamels, hallmarked and marked "950" (silver) on the ring, measuring 43 mm (w) x 60 mm (h) inclusive of its crown and laterally-pierced ball suspension, intact enamels, very light contact, original ribbon, near extremely fine.
The Service Cross for Military Personnel was established by Grand Ducal Decree on February 22, 1850. It is awarded to military personnel for long and meritorious service.
All decorations must be returned upon promotion to a higher grade.
There are two versions of the II Class Cross (for Officers, for 15 Years) which vary slightly in design. The second version has larger swords and oak leaves.
