A Braunschweiger Totenkopf (Skull) Officer’s Cap Insignia for the Infantry Regiment Nr. 92 or Hussars. 17. Die-stamped silvered tombac, 29 mm x 29.5 mm, all three prongs intact, scattered silvering wear, near extremely fine.

History


The traditional 1808 Brunswick style Totenkopf Insignia shows a death’s head with two bones underneath the skull. During the Third Reich period it was worn by the 17th Infantry Regiment, the 13th Cavalry Regiment (2nd Battalion and 4th squadron), and the 41st Cavalry Regiment.

The insignia was made of metal.
