The chord is fabricated from fine aluminum bullion wire, divided into four sections: the first and second sections having a cord braided into multiple rows of loops, a thin wire loop attached to the ends of the braided portions, the extending ends of the cords on each terminating with 61 mm long silvered metal tips, the third section has a shorter looped cord with a braided sliding adjustment knot, the fourth section has a long looped cord, with all four cords joined at six positions within a 28.5 mm x 32 mm fine aluminum wire patch and slotted in the centre for placement around a button on the shoulder. Extremely fine.
In most cases, aiguillettes were worn purely for decorative purposes. They were worn by Officers, Officials, and Generals, but only on special occasions that required a more formal uniform style.
The aiguillette was introduced on June 29, 1935, and worn on the right side of the chest and around the right shoulder.
Aiguillettes worn by Adjutants and Staff Officers, however, served a purpose that went further than just decoration, instead identifying their function.
The Officer version was made from silver-coloured cording.
