History

The East Timor Medal was established by Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of New Zealand by Royal Warrant on April 25, 2000. It was created to recognise valuable citizen and military participation in New Zealand’s efforts to protect and assist East Timor. It has been awarded to civilian members of more than a dozen New Zealand government organisations.

Silver clasps inscribed with “EAST TIMOR” are awarded for additional service of 1 or more years in the operational area.

The Silver Medal features the recipient’s name engraved on the rim.
