History


This medal was instituted in commemoration of the bicentennial anniversary of the naval battle of Gangut. It was conferred upon officers and sailors who participated in anniversary celebrations.

The obverse inscription translates to: "Peter the Great, Emperor and Autocrat of All Russias". The reverse inscription translates to: "27 July 1714 Dedication and Fidelity Excel Force" and "First Naval Victory at Gangut".
