This medal was instituted during the reign of Nicholas I. It was conferred upon those whose philanthropic spirit bettered orphanages, hospitals, social welfare organizations, and churches.
The obverse inscription translates to: “By Grace of God Nicholas I Emperor of All the Russias”. The reverse inscription translates to: “In Token of Imperial Favour”.
