Award medal „For crossing to Sweden through Tornio River“. 1809. Silver 28 mm. Peters 37, Smirnov 360. The medal was awarded to the soldiers of General P.A. Shuvalov during the Russian - Swedish War 1808 - 1809. 6,269 silver medals were minted. Very Rare.

History


This medal was established during the reign of Alexander I in commemoration of the crossing of Russian forces into Sweden through the town of Tornio.

It was conferred upon non-commissioned officers and enlisted men who participated in the battle at Kalix while heading into Sweden.

The reverse inscription translates to: "For Crossing into Sweden Through Tornio 1809".
