Physical Description and Item Details


To Celebrate Peace with Sweden, 3 August 1790. Silver. 52 mm. 48.89 gm. ByS.Yudin. Diakov 221 – variant. Sm 314/c - variant. Crowned, laureate and cuirassed bust of Catherine II right / Olive branch within a laurel wreath. Rare early striking. Nice light toning over fully lustrous fields. Extremely fine.

History


This medal was established during the reign of Catherine the Great to commemorate the signing of the Peace Treaty with Sweden in 1790.

It was conferred in recognition of service in the war against Sweden between the years of 1788 and 1790.

The reverse inscription translates to: "For Service and Bravery" and "Peace with Sweden Concluded 3 August 1790".
