Award Medal for “Taking Akhulgo by Storm”, 1839. Bronze. 26 mm. Novodel. Bit H841A (R2). Crowned Nicholas I cipher / Three-line legend with full date below. Instituted 5 Sept. 1839 for military personnel, doctors and clergy who participated in the siege and capture of the Avar village of Akhulgo. Iridescent hues.
This medal was instituted during the reign of Nicholas I to commemorate the storming of Akhulgo. It was conferred upon officers, non-commissioned officers, and enlisted men who had actively participated in the storming of Akhulgo.
The obverse features Nicholas I's cipher. The reverse inscription translates to: "For the Storming of Akhulgo 22 August 1839".
