This medal was instituted in remembrance of the campaign against the Khanate of Khokand. It was bestowed upon officers, non-commissioned officers, enlisted personnel, volunteers, militiamen, and medical personnel who actively served in the Khokan Khanate campaign.
The Ornate version of this medal features a larger crown.
The obverse features the cipher of the Czar. The reverse inscription translates to: "For the Subjugation of the Khanate of Khokand".
