There are many design variations within the grades of this Order, due to the fact that it was produced by many private manufacturers.

History

The Order was awarded to members of the Georgian Legion, a voluntary unit within the German army, as well as members of the German Caucasus Expedition who fought in Georgia.

All German troops in the Caucasus who remained in Georgia after November 4, 1918 were eligible to receive this Order.

The Order awards were designed by German Lieutenant Horst Schliephack, and the majority were manufactured privately in Germany.

There was an estimated 1,400-5000 produced.

There is an inscription on the obverse.

An identical decoration is available in Georgia.
