History

The 20th Anniversary of the Red Army Medal, also known as the Jubilee Medal "XX Years of the Worker's and Peasants' Red Army" was instituted on February 23, 1938. It was awarded to staff and commanding officers of Army and Navy who served for 20 years in its ranks, and to those honoured during the Civil War and the War for freedom and independence of the motherland.

The medal is composed of silver and is worn on the left side of the chest. The obverse presents a soldier holding a gun, with the date 1918-1938. Type I presents a ribbon with a screw on the reverse, and is numbered from No 1 -37632. Type II is denoted by a pentagonal ribbon, without a serial number.
