An Indian Great War Star 1914-1919 - Bronze, 39 mm x 43.5 mm, ribboned, light contact, extremely fine.
The Great War Star, 1914-1919 was instituted by Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan V in 1920. The Decoration is awarded to members of the Bahawalpur State Forces in recognition of service during the Great War. Bahawalpur subjects who served in units of British India during the Great War may also be eligible for the award.
There are 2 versions of the Star. The first version features the Arabic inscription "Jang-e'Azam" which translates to "Great War" as well as the Roman and Arabic numerals "1914-19." The second version features both Arabic and English script which reads "Bahawalpur 1914-1919."
