History

The North West Frontier Medal 1914-1919 was established by Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan V Abbasi in 1920. The Medal is awarded in 2 Classes to Bahawalpur troops in recognition of service in relieving British Forces overseas, where Bahawalpur troops took over British duties on the North West Frontier. Service in the Third Afghan War in 1919 was also recognized by the award. The Gold Medal was reserved for Officers while the Bronze Medal was presented to other ranks of the Armed Forces.

A Silver Medal may also exist, but award criteria of the Silver Medal is uncertain. Additional research is necessary.

The obverse features an Arabic inscription which translates to "By the Grace of God Sadiq Mohammed Abbasi V Ruler of God Gifted Kingdom of Bahawalpur".

It is worn on a pale pink ribbon with pale blue stripes along the edge, bordered in black lines.
