Physical Description and Item Details


The obverse presents the bust of an older Sadiq Muhammad Khan V, facing left in full military uniform wearing a fez, the reverse presetns aa leaf front along the left crossed by a tulwar (indian blade), with the inscription on the right.

History


The Overseas Service Medal 1939-1945 (Tamgha-e-Jang-e 'Azam Thani 1939-1945) was instituted by Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan V Abbasis in 1945. The Bronze Medal was awarded to members of the Bahawalpur Armed Forces in recognition of military service overseas during the Second World War. Qualifying service mostly includes service in the Middle East and Malaya.

The obverse features an Arabic inscription which translates to "By the Grace of God Sadiq Mohammed Abbasi V Ruler of God Gifted Kingdom of Bahawalpur" and the reverse features an inscription which translates to "Second Great War Years 1939-45."

It is worn on a ribbon white a central purple stripe, edged by a cream-black-cream-black stripe.
