History

The Volunteer Corps Medal (Tamgha-e-Jan-e-Nisari) was instituted by Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan V Abbasi. The Medal is awarded in 2 Classes to members of volunteer auxiliary forces in recognition of meritorious service.

The I Class is composed of silver and is awarded to Officers.

The following 3 clasps are authorized for wear on the Medal ribbon to denote awards made in recognition of bravery, good conduct, and good service:
1. "Shujaat" (Bravery)
2. "Nack Chalan" (Good Character)
3. "Khidmaat Husna" (Excellent Services)

A 4th clasp to denote long service is also known to have been issued with the award, however, the inscription is uncertain. There may be additional clasps authorized for wear with the Medal. Subsequent research is necessary.

The obverse features an Arabic inscription which translates to "By the Grace of God Sadiq Mohammad Abbasi V Ruler of God Gifted Kingdom of Bahawalpur" and the reverse features an inscription which translates to "God God and the Prophet who is the Servant of the God Haji Mohammed Abbasi Fifth, Ruler of Bahawalpur."

There may be additional versions of the Bronze Medal which vary by design not featured here.
