The Civil Defence Medal was instituted by Nawab Hafiz Muhammad Hamidu'llah Khan to recognize meritorious service during the Second World War. The Medal is awarded in 2 Classes.

The II Class is composed of bronze.

The obverse features a Hindi inscription which translates to "Iftikhar-ul-Mulk Sikander Saulat Nawab Mohammed Hamidullah Khan His Highness [God Give Him all Respect] Ruler of Bhopal." The reverse features an English inscription.

The Medal is believed to have been worn with multiple ribbon patterns.
