History

The Sultania Medal (Tamgha-i-Sultania) was founded by Nawab Sultan Jahan Begum Sahiba. Nawab Sultan Jahan Begum Sahiba ruled as the Begum of Bhopal between 1901 and 1926. During her reign, Nawab Begum brought forth progressive reforms to the fields of Bhopal's education, taxation, military, police, judiciary and jail. The award may also be known as the Ruler's Medal (Tamgha-i-Farma Rawae) and is issued in 2 Classes.

The Sultania Medal (Tamgha-i-Sultania) is similar in design to the Exalted Government Medal (Tamgha-i-Sarkar-i-Alia).

The II Class is composed of silver.
