The Accession Medal was instituted by Maharaja Sadul Singh on February 13, 1943, to commemorate the Maharaja's accession to the Bikaner throne. The Medal was awarded as a personal gift from His Highness to deserving officials and non-officials, Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers. Other personnel who served in or with the Bikaner State Army were also eligible for the award.

Approximations place 4500 Medals awarded to military personnel.

The obverse features a Devanagari inscription which translates to "His Highness Sadul Singh Bahadur In the Service of My People." The reverse also features a Devanagari inscription which translates to "Kingdom of Bikaner Magh Shukla 9 Coronation Samvat 1999." The date "13TH FEBRUARY 1943" is also inscribed in English on the reverse.

There are 2 versions of the Silver Medal which vary by the obverse design of Maharaja Sadul Singh's portrait. The first version features an effigy of Sadul Singh facing right in military uniform while the second version depicts a full-face effigy of Sadul Singh in military uniform.
