in silver gilt with red, white and green enamels, marked "40/2" on the reverse of the crown suspension, measuring 44.5 mm (w) x 74.5 mm (h) inclusive of its crown suspension, light crazing evident in the trunk on the elephant, otherwise the enamels are intact, on its original folded and bow-tied ribbon with pinback
The Order was created by King Mongkut, and may be conferred upon national and foreign citizens for extraordinary civil and military service to the Kingdom of Thailand. The Orders may be awarded to both men (Knight) and women (Dame).
There is a discrepancy in size between the Order grades awarded to men versus those awarded to women.
