Order of the Red Star of Bukhara 1st Class. Unnumbered. 1922. Gold-platedsilver. Dark blue enamels. Pinback. Massive multi-piece construction, weighting38.75 grams, and measuring 74.5mm in width, 71.7mm in height, with centermedallion diameter of 41.5mm. Herf 1.24.1 (gold-plated silver). Kuts pp. 163-192.Around 50 pieces were awarded to top Red Army Commanders, including Joseph Stalin. Extremely rare and very well preserved. Among the best survived specimens of this extraordinary and historically important award

History


In honor of the second anniversary of the founding of the Bukhara People's Republic July 3, 1922. the Order of the Red Star and the Order of the Red Crescent were established.

Both orders are similar to the Order of the Noble Bukhara: They consist of a big star, but are five-pointed instead of eight-pointed.

The Order of the Red Star has three Classes:

The I Class is a convex golden five-pointed star. The obverse of the order shows different rays that go outwards. In the middle of the award is on a blue enamel background a crescent with a five-pointed star. The center of the star is filled with red enamel. Above the crescent and star is an Arabic/Uzbek inscription. At the bottom is the date "1922" inscribed. On the reverse is a pin.

The II Class of the Order is a five-pointed star of silver. The center of the star is filled with blue enamel. The inscription and the size of the star are identical to the I Class.

The III Class is drop-shaped medal. At the upper part of the Order is a red star filled with red enamel. Inside and around the star are inscriptions in Arabic/Uzbek language. Underneath the star is on green enamel also inscriptions in Arabic/Uzbek as well as on the lower part of the decoration in circular shape.

The Order of the Red Crescent is a convex five-pointed star. The surface has the form of ascending rays. In the center on the red enamel background stands the emblem of the republic, the sickle and the tribe of the jugaras lying on top of each other. Above the emblem is placed a crescent with a five-pointed star. The middle of the star is filled with green enamel. The star has at the bottom the inscription "1922" in Arabic and Uzbek language.
