A Soviet Medal for the Capture of Budapest; Variation 1 - Circa 1945-47, in brass, toned, very fine.

History


The Capture of Budapest Medal was established on June 9, 1945. The period of consideration for this medal was from December 20, 1944 to February 13, 1945. This medal was awarded 350,000 times.

Variation I has the suspension ring soldered onto the medal, variation II has the ring made with the medal and variation III was gold washed. The reverse of the medal in all variations has light pebbling or stimpling.

The obverse Russian inscription translates to: "The Capture of Budapest". The reverse is dated "13 February 1945".
