Variation I has the suspension ring soldered onto the medal, variation II has the ring made with the medal and variation III was gold washed. The reverse of the medal in all variations has light pebbling or stimpling.

The obverse Russian inscription translates to: "The Capture of Budapest". The reverse is dated "13 February 1945".
