Jubilee Medal for 60 Years of the Armed Forces of the USSR 1918-1978 (in brass, measuring 32 mm in diameter, original ribbon, mounted to a five-sided aluminum suspension with pinback)
It was established on January 28, 1978 by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. Over 10,700,000 people received this award. This medal was conferred upon all ranks currently serving in the Armed Forces, Ministry of Preserving Public Order, and the Committee for the State Security of the USSR.
The medal is composed of brass and measures 32mm. The ring at 12 o'clock is made as a part of the medal. The obverse has a depiction of a Soviet soldier holding an AK47 assault rifle and a submarine in the water.
The obverse is dated 1918-1978. The reverse Russian inscription translates to: "Sixty Years of the Armed Forces of the USSR".
