A Soviet Medal for the Liberation of Warsaw - In brass gilt, with period suspension, very fine.

History


The Liberation of Warsaw was established on June 9, 1945. This medal was conferred upon those who participated in the liberation of Warsaw. The period of consideration was from January 14, 1945 to January 17, 1945. It was awarded approximately 690,000 times.

Variation I has the suspension ring soldered onto the medal, variation II has the ring filed down and variation III was gold washed and awarded at a later date.

The obverse Russian inscription translates to: "Liberation of Warsaw". The reverse is dated "17 January 1945".
