Mexico

Mexico, officially the United Mexican States, is located in the southern of North America. It is bordered to the north by United States, to the south and west by the Pacific Ocean, to the southeast by Guatemala and Belize, and to the east by the Caribbean Sea. It is a federal sovereign state, and the most populous Spanish-speaking country; although there are 68 recognized Amerindian languages used in the country. Mexico City is its federal capital and largest city.

Being one of the most important Viceroy during the colonial era, Mexico had severe struggles to achieve its independence from Spanish rule. Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, also called "Father of the Nation", declared Mexico's independence by first time on September 16, 1810, however he was later executed by royalist forces. In 1822, Agustín de Iturbide declared the independence of the Empire of Mexico with Spanish representation. The Order of Our Lady of Guadalupe was founded to commemorate the creation of the Mexican Empire, however it was abolished in 1823 soon after the Iturbide's overthrown.

Throughout the nineteenth century, Mexico faced continuous armed conflicts until the ending of the Mexican Revolution in 1920. Among these engagements are counted the Texas Rebellion (1835-36), Pastry War (1838-39) and the French Intervention (1861-67), the Mexican-American War (1846-48), when Mexico lost 53% of its previous territory, and finally the engagements against indigenous living in Yucatán, Chihuhua, and Sonora. The Mexican Revolution broke out in 1911 and lasted nearly a decade.

The Mexican system of honors consists of civil orders and decorations, as well as civil and military medals that are conferred by the Mexican government. According to the Law on Prizes, Stimuli and Civil Rewards, Mexico's highest award for its own citizens is the Condecoración Miguel Hidalgo, and for foreigners is the Order of the Aztec Eagle.

In Medal Book, as an effort to follow a precise historical sequence of Mexico, the country is organized by Orders, Medals & Decorations, and Badges & Insignia.
