Saxe-Coburg-Gotha


Saxe-Coburg and Gotha was a duchy, located in the present-day states of Bavaria and Thuringia in Germany. It dual monarchy was ruled by a branch of the House of Wettin.

The house of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha was created in 1826.It stopped being independent in 1918, when Germany became a republic.

Gotha was subsequently merged into Thuringia whereas Coburg merged into Bavaria.
